A short Guide for writing a Thesis
If you are in college and in your senior year, probably the only thing (or at least the biggest thing) that's hanging over your head right now is your thesis. It is one of the biggest and lengthiest papers that you will probably write in your college life, or even in your entire life.
Therefore, it isn't at all surprising when you look at the task of writing a thesis as a really big boulder that blocks you from graduating from college. But writing one shouldn't be that of a burden. Yes, it takes time and a lot of patience but it pays out well in the end. Aside from the two, below are some more tips that will help in writing your thesis.
- Just like your research paper, choosing a topic should be about something that you're interested in. Otherwise, the entire ordeal of writing a thesis would be made complicated by your disinterest in writing it.
- Also in choosing a topic, you should choose one with enough scope, meaning it shouldn't be too broad or too narrow. Make it broad enough so you can address an important issue and narrow enough you can have enough time (usually a semester or two) to conduct your research.
- You should be able to come up with a clear argument. This is the basis of your thesis and your entire work would revolve around this. It is therefore important to have a clear idea of what you are trying to talk about. This is will be evident in the argument that you make.
- Make clear statements throughout your thesis. This is achieved by using the active voice and writing clear and concise sentences. Doing so would ensure that you are getting your point across well.
